The Mississippi Human Trafficking Council (MHTC) was established within the MBI under the purview of MDPS in compliance with the requirements of the Grant to establish a multi-disciplinary task force to achieve the purposes of the grant program and to assist the Coordinator and MDPS in achieving the goals and objectives of the Grant award. 

Mississippi Code Section 97-3-54.9(1) (i) provides the specific authority for the Coordinator and MDPS to create such a statewide task force (or MHTC) and play a role in operations of any task force created.
