JACKSON, Miss., - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Flowood Police Department that occurred on February 16, 2025.
Officers with the Flowood Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on Lakeland Drive near Treetops Boulevard. When an officer began approaching the vehicle, the passenger exited the vehicle and discharged a firearm towards the officer. Officers then discharged their weapons, striking the subject. The subject received fatal injuries. One involved officer was struck with non-life-threatening injuries, the other officers did not receive any serious physical injuries. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
