JACKSON, Miss., - Around 1:18 p.m. on February 21, 2025, Capitol Police officers responded to a call regarding an attempted robbery and an individual suffering from a gunshot wound at a location on Highway 80.
Upon arrival, officers learned the subject, identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Gibson, had fled the scene after being shot in the abdomen by another individual inside the establishment. Gibson, who has an extensive criminal history and previously attempted to rob the same location, was located shortly after and transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Two firearms were recovered at the scene. He will be charged with robbery and aggravated assault.
