Do I have to be employed with a department to attend the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy?

You do not have to be employed with any law enforcement agency for Basic class attendance at MLEOTA. You must be 21 years of age with at least a high school diploma or its equivalence. You must be of good moral character and no criminal history. You must also be able to show proof of medical insurance coverage during the duration of the twelve (12) week training process. All self sponsored recruits must have their own firearm and mode of transportation for firearms training and the driving courses (does not have to be a police cruiser).

 How to challenge inspection violation(s)?

You would go to dataqs.fmcsa.dot.gov which is DataQs website and request a review of FMCSA-Issued data. DataQs allows you to request and track a review of Federal and State data issued by FMCSA that you feel may be incomplete or incorrect.

How do I check my DOT SCORES?

You can check your scores at the USDOT website: csa.fmcsa.dot.gov. When you enter your USDOT number and PIN into the SMS login page, you will be able to locate your score.  If you don’t have PIN, you can request one from USDOT.

What is a DOT Safety Audit?

A Safety Audit is a review of a motor carrier’s records designed to verify that a carrier has basic safety management controls in place to ensure compliance with applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and related record-keeping requirements. A motor carrier must undergo a Safety Audit within the first 12 months of their operations to complete the New Entrant Program.
